Skyfest Fun

Come early and stay late, there will be lots to see and lots to do for the entire family, plus plenty of good eats! Pick up a 2007 Skyfest program for only $2.00 and check out what's available at the fly-in. You will find activities and rides for the children. One exhibit the kids will not want to miss is the Stealth for Kids, USA and they will also enjoy the educational booths. There will be plenty of activities for the adults, make sure you stop by and visit the Sky Soldiers as they will be offering rides in their Huey. There will be numerous vendors set up with wonderful displays and exhibits. Everyone will love seeing all of the beautiful and unusual aircraft. Some of these airplanes will not be around forever, here is your opportunity to view them up close. One aircraft to look for in the static line up is the C-130. We hope to see you out at the Skyfest having fun!

Educational Booths

A smart site, on the field, to check out is the educational area with featured booths by the EAA, CAP, and all of the Military Branches. Also, stopover by the Trenton Flyers booth and see Dave Gardner, who will be sharing his 5,000 mile flight event commemorating the Wright Brother's flight. In addition, on the field you will find, the Tuskegee Airmen, ask them about their heroic experiences. These are just a few of the educational booths set up at the Skyfest.

History Tent

Be sure to stop by the History Tent, there you will discover local aviation history. This year Augusta's very own WWII veterans will be volunteering at the History tent. The Greg Hodges Memorial Tent

The Chairman's Tent has officially been renamed to The Greg Hodges Memorial Tent.  It is in memory of Greg Hodges, an outstanding aviator and a huge community man.

One of the best seats in the house for watching the air show is from the Greg Hodges Memorial Tent. Tickets for this seating are $50.00 per person, per day, and may be purchased at the gate.  Chairs and tables are set up right at the edge of the air box for an excellent view of the airshow. The tent is located right behind this viewing area and inside you will find a tasty assortment of refreshments and food.
We plan to provide viewing of the air show from inside the tent this year, that is if we can find a large enough TV.  Also, included with your Greg Hodges Memorial Tent ticket is preferred parking and your very own port-a-toilet! Tickets can be purchased when you enter the gates or you can upgrade your regular ticket at the Greg Hodges Memorial Tent. (If you paid $15 at the gate to get into the air show and want to upgrade to the GHMT just pay an additional $35 for a GREAT seat & deal!!).

Boys and Girls Club 10K Run and Kids Fun Run

Boshears Memorial Ground Loop

Are you ready for some fun and exercise. Get your running shoes on because on Saturday, October 20th, we are having a 10K Run to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Augusta. 10K Run begins at 8AM and the Kids Fun Run begins at 10AM on the air field. Map of the Race.

About the course. The run will take you through historic Summerville, down to the neighborhood that supported Augusta’s textile mills in their heyday. As you make the midpoint loop, around the BGCA Hagler Unit, kids from the Club will greet you with great fanfare. Finally, a challenging area of the course takes you uphill past the Augusta Country Club as you head back towards the finish line at Daniel Field.

Boshears Memorial Ground Loop - external link for registration is open until 10/17/07 11:59 PM. Entry Fees: 10K Run is preregister $20.00 or day of race $25.00 and 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run is $10..00.  Race Brochure and Map of the Race in PDF format.

Volunteers

For all of our wonderful volunteers, Sconyers is hosting a volunteer party at the Chairman's Tent on Saturday at 7:00 PM. You know Sconyers makes the best Bar-B-Que! Also, there will be a D.J. providing music for your entertainment. The Skyfest would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers that work at the air show - many of them volunteering their time year after year. Some of them have been with us since the very first Fly-In. We provide food, drinks, t-shirts, and much more for our volunteers to show our appreciation for their time and effort.  THANK-YOU Volunteers!!

Civil Air Patrol

We are highly appreciative of the Civil Air Patrol, GA Wing. As at all air shows, airplanes must be in motion at some point in time. This Civil Air Patrolmovement, coupled with thousands of people, who sometimes don't realize the dangers that accompany the movement of aircraft, could lead to some serious accidents. Enter the CAP. They accompany every moving aircraft, keeping our patrons out of harms way. Also, they politely monitor the fact that there is no smoking allowed around the aircrafts. We are lucky to have a squadron stationed right here at Daniel Field.

The Boy Scouts

Each year, hundreds of Boy Scouts camp out at the Boshears Skyfest. They provide numerous and invaluable services for the air show. We are honored by their presence and welcome them each year. For more information, contact Dan MacEachern. Click here to download the Boy Scouts Registration Form for the Boshears Skyfest 2007.

River Rats - Teach History by Living it!

The River Rats are a living history group, based out of Patriot's Point in SC., they are volunteers that re-enact events from the Vietnam War. Visit their display tent during the Skyfest and you will find weapons and uniforms from both the U.S. and the Vietcong. You can also learn more about this war as the living history group is there to answer your questions. The goal of the River Rats is to honor the veterans, and thank them for their service. Click here to view photos from the River Rats during Boshears Skyfest 2006. Visit the River Rats website.
